Home Opener This Saturday!

Thee Toledo Reign opens the home portion of the 2014 schedule this Saturday with a divisional matchup against the Cincinnati Sizzle.

The Reign (2-0) were last in action April 5th earning a 26-6 victory over the Derby City Dynamite on the road in Louisville.  Veteran Captain #25 Brianna "Bugg" Patman turned in an outstanding performance in the season opener rushing for 108 yards and 2 touchdowns and added a 64 yard punt return for a third score.  In her first game with the Reign, rookie wide receiver #10 Barb "3G" Willobee hauled in three passes for 116 yards, including a 75 yard touchdown reception.  12-year veteran #51 Maegan "Beast" Applegate dominated on defense with 10 total tackles, 1 for loss.  Off since the season opener and collecting a forfeit victory over the Central Maryland Seahawks along the way, The Reign hopes to carry the momentum into their home opener against division rival Cincinnati Sizzle.

The Sizzle (0-2) have stumbled out of the gate in defense of last year's division championship.  Season opening losses against the West Michigan Mayhem and the Tennessee Train have the Sizzle looking to rebound against a familiar opponent in the Reign.  The Sizzle swept the Reign last season and have a slight edge over the Reign, going 3-2 in 5 meetings over the past 3 seasons.

With a victory, the Reign would sweep their division games and be in the driver's seat steering towards the playoffs.  As the defending division champs, the Sizzle certainly won't relinquish the division crown without a fight.  Don't miss this matchup between these Ohio rivals this Saturday night!

The game this Saturday will be played at Harmon Field at Don Paul Stadium, 1100 Miller St, Fremont, OH (Fremont Ross High School).  Kickoff is at 7pm and tickets are $6 with kids 5 and under free!  Also as a special event for this game to honor our local heroes we are offering a $1 discount on tickets to any Armed Forces, Police and Fire men or women who present their ID's at the gate!  We are hoping to honor our local heroes at halftime so you will have the opportunity to leave your name at the ticket booth and be recognized for your service at halftime.  Post-game festivities will be held at the Depot Pizza and Tavern at 117 N. Monroe St., Fremont, OH.

With the forfeits over the Central Maryland Seahawks in the books there are only three regular season home games so make sure to be in the stands this Saturday to cheer on YOUR Toledo Reign!
