Remembering Niki "Pup" Marzluff

As all of us with Thee Toledo Reign look forward to spending time with our friends and family this holiday season, we also take a moment to remember when we lost one of our own eight years ago today.

Niki "Pup" Marzluff was a rookie with the Reign in 2006, wearing #94.  Pup had just begun her travels through both football and life when she passed away on Christmas Eve 2006 from injuries related to a car accident at only 24 years old.  Pup was named the honorary Rookie of the Year and to this day her jersey #94 is one of four retired numbers for the Reign.  In addition, the Reign's Rookie of the Year award bears the name of a player that showed the heart and determination it takes to succeed on the football field.

Though it has been eight years since Pup's passing her name will forever be linked with Reign football, and our thoughts continue to be with her family to this day.
